Let me Freeze Again
The story: a man, a mountain rescuer, is guided to the heart of winter on the trail of a woman by the distant call of a cold genie. Frozen in the depths of a remote serac, it is contact with the man who has come to rescue her that awakens her.
In the midst of this frozen, baroque still life, everything gradually comes back to life as if by magic. Until the explosion of the final scene, in a firework display of enchanting colors.
The source: the “50/50” album by the Concert de l’Hostel Dieu conducted by Franck-Emmanuel Comte, which combines pages by Lully and Purcell with contemporary creations by Frenchman David Chalmin and Briton Martyn Harry. They combine Baroque sonorities with their own language, in a dialogue between eras, languages and borders. The video presented here illustrates and magnifies an extract.
