Les grandes espérances | Charles Dickens, adapted by Hélène Géhin
Actress Hélène Géhin has created what she calls “random theater”. Three actors, Hélène, Augustin and June, have adapted Charles Dickens’s Great Expectations, a classic and monumental English novel, for the stage. There’s something absurdly naive about them. Equipped with masks and simply drawn props, they embark on a petulant journey through the text, which then becomes a play. And Dickens becomes incarnate in all his cruelty, when it comes to inequalities among children, and funny when he depicts the incredible characters that are his secret.
