Lamekan Ensemble invite Kudsi Erguner
Lâmekân means ‘beyond all places’ in Arabic. This is the name that Belgian oud player and musical director Tristan Driessens has chosen for his Ottoman music ensemble.
This evening at Salle Poirel (in Nancy, France) , produced by the Diwan en Lorraine association and recorded by Libelo Productions, plunges us into the soul of Istanbul and its learned music. A journey spanning five centuries, where East and West meet to weave the links that stem from classical Ottoman music, based on an ancestral tradition that dates back to the 15th century and progresses through time to 19th-century Ottoman court music.
