Joao Selva

João Selva embodies a modern and exuberant Brazilian tropicalism. His radiant music blends Angolan semba, Cape Verdean funaná, Caribbean zouk, Congolese rumba, samba, soul, jazz and funk – a kaleidoscope of Black Atlantic rhythms. Born in Rio and now based in Lyon, he made his mark on the international scene with his 2021 album Navegar, acclaimed for its funky grooves and elegant melodies. Welcomed at Festival Pelpass in 2025, he has also lit up stages such as Nuits de Fourvière, Jazz à Vienne and Amsterdam Roots Festival with his generous and irresistible energy.
