Cheick Tidiane Seck⎜Timbuktu
Renowned Malian pianist Cheick Tidiane Seck pays tribute to the great Randy Weston, who died in 2018 and pioneered the fusion of jazz and Gnawa music. The “groove guru” doesn’t just interpret Weston’s compositions, he projects himself entirely into his language and his world, full of humility and sharing. At the crossroads of Gnawa rhythms, West African grooves and an assertive blues spirit, this tribute comes across as a joyful funeral oration, a dancing mass full of warmth.
