Ben Wendel | Sound of Light
In the firmament of jazz saxophonists Ben Wendel, an American composer and a virtuoso, is constantly exploring, as in his Sound of Light project. This immersive 70-minute show combines Wendel’s instrument with Alice Godfrey’s dance in a captivating trilogue between light, sound and movement. Light effects and innovative visual installations interact brilliantly with the music and dance, offering the audience a unique experience. A soothing plunge into a new-found intimacy, where human nature reconnects with light phenomena and the universe.
Combining contemplative jazz, contemporary dance and cutting-edge technology, Wendel invites us to discover a surprising and inspiring work, a moment of pure magic that redefines the boundaries of artistic performance. The audience at the Bimhuis gave this World premiere, filmed by Libelo, a triumphant reception, after which additional shows had to be organized.
