Areg and Manushak | Tigran Hamasyan

With Areg and Manushak, Tigran Hamasyan begins a trilogy of clips, inspired by the Armenian tale The Bird of a Thousand Voices, which shaped his new concept album: The Bird of a Thousand Voices, released in August.

In this first half-musical, half-documentary clip, Hamasyan discusses the genesis of the project, describing how his discovery in 2019 of the tale and ancient Armenian manuscripts inspired this work. This musical journey explores universal themes such as love, the quest for harmony and wisdom, at the heart of this myth’s initiatory journey. Mystical, medieval visuals plunge us into a dreamlike universe, where the influence of Armenian culture and spirituality mingle with rock and jazz sounds.
